Airtel Delhi half marathon 2009: Get, set, goOn November 1, around 30,000 participants who have registered have taken part in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2009. The event would witness
around 40 of the world's top male and female athletes running for the prize money 25k USD First Prize.
ON NOVEMBER 1, around 30,000 registered participants have taken part in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2009.
Around 1,200 senior citizens will be taking part in the Great Delhi Run. The Delhi half marathon would witness around 40 of the world's top
male and female athlete running for the prize money.
I ( Amit pathak ) really enjoyed this marathon race i have just start running from last month and i am happy to cover this race in 2:35 hr. bib no 5515 in above pic., in my first attempt and only with one month practice. Now i want continue and would like run in Full marathon 42.2 km. upto next Airtel delhi marathon i want to improve my running time.
The Delhi half marathon event was started five years ago and with time India's performance has been improving every year. Its impact has
multipled and has thus succeeded in teaching everyone to have fun while setting fitness goals.
The joint managing director of Procam International, one of the promoters of the event said that the Indian athletes will be looking forward
to lower Sandeep Kumar's mark of 6.4:48 set last year. Alongside the Delhiites will be many celebrities, professional athletes and people
from every age and size.
Around six medical stations along the marathon route and one base medical station, comprising 120 doctors will ensure that things go smoothly.
A total of 13 water stations will also be there along the route, which will distribute about 80,000 litres of water.
Last year, the event raised a whooping Rs. 1.6 crore towards charity and this year it is believed that it would be much higher. The event
started at 7:30 am morning in the holding area, located in the the Central Civil services Cultural and Sports Board's ground, opposite Nehru
Park. A lot many people are expected to gather along the route and cheer the participants.
